Bpifrance, Business France, Medicen Paris Region and Cap Digital accelerate the development of six healthcare start-ups in Israel

Paris, October 8, 2018 – Bpifrance, Business France, Medicen Paris Region and Cap Digital are organising the French Healthcare Tech Tour Israel for the third consecutive year. Six startups in the healthcare sector will benefit from a personalised support programme, aimed at enabling them to validate their development potential and establish partnerships on the Israeli market.

Launched in 2016 by Bpifrance, Business France and Medicen Paris Region, the French Tech Tour Healthcare Israel will enable French Tech startups specializing in this sector to seize opportunities in this very dynamic ecosystem with global reach. Selected by a jury* of Franco-Israeli health experts, the six startups will benefit from tailor-made support for three months, including a one-day boot-camp at Bpifrance’s premises and a week immersion in Israel from 25 to 30 November 2018. This intensive day of training will take place in the presence of partners such as FutuRX, Biotech Développement Conseil, the intellectual property firm ICOSA and the National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI). It aims to give the first keys to understanding the Israeli ecosystem and will be completed by a pitch training session in English.

The 2018 edition of the FTT Healthcare Israel is part of the France-Israel Cross Season and is a major opportunity to strengthen the links between the French and Israeli innovation ecosystems. The aim of the France-Israel Cross Season is to show the vitality of the bilateral relationship in the scientific fields and to renew the way in which the French look at Israel and the Israelis look at France. As such, it encourages new cooperation and promotes the meeting between the « Startup nation » and the « French Tech ».

During these three months of intensive and personalized support, the six winners will analyze their potential and define their objectives on the Israeli market in order to target the prospects, partners or potential investors they will meet during their stay in Israel.

The objective of the laureates is defined in 3 points:

    • To master business practices and entrepreneurial culture. In order to be operational as soon as they arrive in the country, the laureates participate in a 1-day-training in business culture and practice in Israel and initiation to pitching. They also benefit from a pre-diagnosis of industrial property protection, given by INPI experts.

    • Increase their reputation on the Israeli market, thanks to the support of the local Business France teams. The winners will be immersed in a very dynamic ecosystem and will meet players such as technology accelerators and incubators (Sanara Ventures, Trendlines Medical, FutuRx…) or will take part in targeted and individualized meetings with mentors, entrepreneurs and giants in the sector.

  • Make Israel a key market for their international development. The unique French Tech Tour Healthcare Israel accelerates time for startups to form partnerships, initiate contracts and bring out collaborative R&D projects, coupled with ambitious commercial prospects. They also benefit from privileged access to the network of Israeli investors such as Orbimed, Accelmed, and Triventures, via targeted meetings.
At the end of this week of immersion, the winners will continue to benefit from the support of Bpifrance and Business France in order to materialize the opportunities and contacts initiated on the spot.

Paul-François Fournier, Executive Director Innovation of Bpifrance states: « The international development of companies as a lever for growth is at the heart of Bpifrance’s strategy. The French Healthcare Tech Tour is a complete immersion program offering the opportunity for startups to get closer to the major Israeli players in this sector and thus enable companies to increase their notoriety and seize the first commercial opportunities to enter this very high-potential market. »

For Gisèle Hivert Messeca, Director of Business France Israel, « Israel is one of the best platforms in the world for accessing funding, developing R&D cooperation and forging strategic partnerships that open up exceptional opportunities for international launches. The healthcare sector is one of the most dynamic sectors in France and Israel. French Healthcare Tech Tour Israel is an incredible accelerator to give the keys to all these types of cross partnerships. French start-ups in the healthcare sector have a real interest in participating in this type of program in order to assess opportunities and realize their ambitions. »

« We are delighted to continue this initiative for the third consecutive year, which testifies to the quality of this program and the added value provided by Medicen and Cap Digital to entrepreneurs and SMEs that integrate international business into their development. Moreover, we would like to welcome a future Israeli delegation as part of the France-Israel cross-year program and thus promote French excellence in health innovation. » says Stéphane Roques, General Delegate of Medicen Paris Region.

In addition, Christophe Pierrat, COO of INEON Biotech adds in the columns of the laboratory’s newsletter: « International development is a strong growth lever in INEON Biotech’s strategy.
